Palmer Report January 20th

The cold has not left us but I still feel Arizona heating up. Is it all the excitement in the air as fans cheer for their Arizona Football Cardinals as they head into the NFC Championship game? Or could it be the persistence of Arizonians, especially Phoenicians, who continue to wear shorts through below freezing weather? Whatever it is one can feel the atmosphere coming alive. Winter is only a month in but we are all waiting for that beautiful spring weather that is just around the corner. The outdoor patios are littered with heaters and chairs are arranged around the fire place in an attempt to ignore the cold. Just hold on Arizona, summer will be here before you know it.

Expressing Art & Soul

Stacy Waddell has been a friend, mentor, teacher and listening ear to the community of Globe for quite some time. She used to teach at Globe High School and is now using her teaching abilities to instruct adults in a Paint and Vino class. She teaches the classes out of her art studio business called Art & Soul. Conveniently located in the heart of Globe Art & Soul has many art supplies as well as services such as framing. The store is open 11am from Tuesday thru Saturday. The next available dates for Paint and Vino are February 3rd, 16th and 24th. Please call to reserve a seat. You can also find Stacy attending the bar at Farley’s Pub on Friday’s and every other Saturday with Stephen and Zenada’s open mic.

Market Must Stop

Ortega’s Shoes is located on Broad Street in Downtown Globe. With locations in Thatcher and Douglas Ortega’s is a family run business. The location in Globe is open Monday thru Friday from 9:30am to 6pm and Saturday until 5pm. Ortega’s shoes has a wide variety of women’s shoes, boots and clothing. The men’s section is more aimed toward active sportswear. There is a clearance rack in the back where it is common to find a good deal. It is great to find a small shop with that small town service feel.

Taste of the Week

With Valentines Day around the corner it is time to start thinking of that perfect spot for a romantic date. De Marco’s is a classic Italian restaurant with pasta’s, salads, wine and delicious deserts. If you are not too worried about romance De Marco’s also serves burgers, pizza and wings, making it a great place to dine in or order out. The restaurant itself has two TV’s for those looking for a place to catch a bit of the game this weekend. Parking can be a bit tricky as De Marco’s is located just north of Highway 60 on the west side of Globe. They are open every day of the week except for Tuesday.
