Stairizona Trail: Globe’s unexpected hiking option

Welcome to the Stairizona Trail, the trail Roger Naylor calls “one of the most unusual, most unexpected hiking options in a state filled with them.”  The trail incorporates a set of staircases built in the 30s that wind through the neighborhoods above Globe’s Historic district, and involves over 35 art installations created in the last several years, from 30ft murals to mosaic staircases. Plus more are planned for 2024.

Art to be found on the Stairizona Trail.

Tours Provided!

Regina Ortega-Leonardi and Dr. Thea Wilshire are co-founders of IARTGlobe and the Stairizona Trail. While you can always do self-guided hikes, taking a tour with one of these two will give you insights into the community, the art and the artists you’ll see on your walk. Tours are $20 and you can call 808-373-0032 or email them at stairizonatrail@gmail to set up a tour.

The trail offers three distances from 1.4 to 6.4-mile loops. So pick your distance and download the map in a printable PDF form as a quick reference.  There are over 35 art installations, from 30ft murals to mosaic staircases, to discover.

You can pick up maps and art installation guides at the Globe Miami Chamber of Commerce, or download your own by clicking on  HERE.

Please note, if you are downloading on your phone it will require a FREE app.  If downloading on your computer, you’ll be able to print out a map on a standard 8 x 10
