Palmer Report May 15th

As Americans we have come a long way. From the revolutionary war and then the civil war to the great space race and the civil rights movement. It is easy to look at the past and say “the good old days.” On the same note it is just as easy to look to the future and dream about the possibilities. However, it is important for our generation to turn our gaze to the present. We are blessed with advanced technology and high levels of education. Do not let the fear of what is new turn you away from creating from that fire that burns inside of you.

Open the Streets of Miami

On Saturday, May 21st the businesses in Miami will open there doors from 6-8pm. The normal business hours of most of these shops are M-F 9am to 5pm. In an attempt to gain new shoppers the businesses have gotten together to provide a weekend retreat for those who are busy working and can not shop during their normal business hours.  Come out and experience the antique wonder of Downtown Miami.

Taste of the Month

El Ranchito is a small Mexican restaurant located on Broad Street in Downtown Globe, Arizona. It did not take long for El Ranchito to become a favorite of the local businesses owners to stop in for lunch. Their menu is exclusively traditional Mexican food; burritos, tacos, enchiladas and more. The dining room is on the smaller size but this plays to an advantage as the very friendly wait staff is only a short glance away from serving your every need. They are closed on Mondays and open 11am to 8:30pm during the week. On weekends they open at 8am for breakfast.

Breeze on in the Drift Inn Saloon

Located right next to El Ranchito on Broad Street in Downtown Globe this local watering hole has something to offer everyone. As one of the only bars in town that serves a full menu of food, all ages are welcome to get a bite to eat. Serving the usual bar and grill food of hot wings, hamburgers, sliders and more the Drift Inn Saloon also specializes in hosting open pot lucks as fund raisers for those in need. I have been to several events hosted by Lisa and Eileen, the owners of the bar, where they have selflessly donated profits, food and service to help a fellow member of their community. The Drift Inn is open every day of the week from 10am to 2am. With either live music or a DJ playing every weekend.

High Hopes for Low Expectations

With at least a monthly gig at Apache Gold Casino, the Drift Inn Saloon and Jammerz Bar, Low Expectations is not hard to find. They play an arrangement of rock, country and pop hits from the 60’s to current releases. Teaming up with the Drift Inn Saloon they recently donated their time to help raise money for cancer awareness, this was only one night after a free show they had performed at the Relay for Life event in Globe.  But, do not think this band is exclusive to bars. They have played plenty of other events including house parties, weddings and birthday celebrations. The band members are: Justin Justice on lead vocals, Daniel Philpot smashing the lead guitar, Josh Cummings slapping the bass and Ken Hernandez going ‘animal’ on the drums. Stay updated on their show dates by following them on Facebook at this link- Low Expecations.
