SUPERIOR- This year’s Prickly Pear Festival is billed as a “Celebration of our Incredible Edible Desert”

This annual event originated from our friends at Boyce Thompson Arboretum- A World Class Botanical Garden!

What started out as a series of classes demonstrating the many uses of the Prickly Pear fruit blossomed into an annual event that showcases Food Education, Natural Medicines, Urban Gardening, Homeopathic, Sustainability and an overall healthy lifestyle! All the while with the beloved Prickly Pear as its mascot!

The event begins Saturday morning with our local VFW serving a pancake breakfast with prickly pear syrup from 7:00 am – 11:00 am. Located on 405 Main Street.

Retail vendors, Guest Speakers and information booths will be located at the Old High School gymnasium on the corner of Lime Street and High School Ave from 9:00am – 5:00pm, along with a “Youth Pageant” from 10:00am – 1:00pm.

The gymnasium does not have air conditioning but does have a series of industrial sized fans.

Food demos will be held at the Sr. Center at 360 W Main Street from 9:00am – 5:00pm

The “Cactus Lounge” will be held in the Chamber of Commerce office at 165 Main Street. Featuring local artists, entertainment, prickly pear libations and refreshments from 11:00am – 5:00pm. Followed by “Tapas and Beverages” with live music from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
