Palmer Report January 6th

The new year has begun. The children are headed back to school and life goes right back to normal. There is finally a moment to catch our breathe after the anticipation and excitement of the holiday season. In this lull we find ourselves wondering into our mundane routines. Dare yourself to think outside the box this year. Save yourself a day of the week where you sit back, relax and enjoy the grace of a wonderful life. Take your wife, girlfriend, brother or best friend out for a night on the town. In short, enjoy your happiness.

Wild Horses Saloon

Walking Sullivan Street in Downtown Miami can be quite an adventure. It is not certain which shops will be open or closed. A lot of the buildings are vacant. Even the swimming pool is empty during this time of year. However, as you make your way to the east end of the street there is a small watering hole with plenty of life. Wild Horses Saloon is open every day of the week and ready to welcome you in to a warm room and a cool brew. The television is always on the latest sports action and the service is ready and waiting. They have a back patio for a large group as well as a front porch that is perfect for taking in the view of Downtown Miami. On occasion Roxi will provide entertainment such as open mics, live bands and even comedians. If you live in Miami or are stopping through this is the place to catch a buzz, literally and figuratively.

Abell Liquor

You could drive Highway 60 through Globe 100 times and not see this little gem. Hidden on the north side of the 60 just west of Downtown Globe is a small bar called Abell Liquor. This quaint bar provides a quiet and relaxing atmosphere to be enjoyed alone or with friends. There are a few flat screen televisions and an inviting outside patio. The staff is friendly but also aware that their patrons usually want to keep to themselves. If you have never stopped here before it is well worth the visit.

Market Must Stop

Ortega’s Shoes has been a staple in Downtown Globe for as long as I can remember. You are always greeted as soon as you walk in the door by a warm and friendly staff. The owners of the store are also residents of the community and this shows in the way they do business. Ortega’s sells more than just shoes. They have great deals on sportswear, ladies garments and back to school clothes for the kids. The store is well organized and laid out so that it is easy to find what you are looking for. Not only are the prices very reasonable they always have a great selection on clearance. If price is not your concern than you will have no trouble finding the latest trend in shoe wear.
