Cowboy Day, a fun-filled event for the whole family honoring hard-working local ranchers and farmers, is this Saturday, Aug. 11, at Arizona Zipline Adventures in Oracle. Admission is free.
Activities begin at 11 a.m. and run until dusk. Games, such as egg race, sack race, and tug-of-war, will be played throughout the day. For those of any age handy with a lariat, there will be a goat-roping contest in the corral. And for those handy with a fork, a pie- eating contest.
Pit-roasted, barbecue pulled pork, beans, and coleslaw make for a real cowboy meal for $10. Soft drinks will be available and adults are invited to BYOB.
From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Oracle Ridge Band will be on stage in the corral playing local country music.
At 5 p.m., a raffle commences with a stainless steel grill and other items donated by Home Depot going to lucky ticket holders. Home Depot and area rancher Charles Goff are two of the sponsors for this, the second annual, Cowboy Day.
Throughout Cowboy Day, adventure seekers may purchase rides on the business’s five ziplines of various lengths and speeds.
