Author and succulent expert, Jeff Moore will be giving a lecture and guided walk at Boyce Thompson Arboretum from 2 – 4 p.m this Friday.
Moore has owned and operated a specialty retail succulent nursery in Solana Beach since 1992 where he gained local notoriety for undersea succulent gardens. He was invited to the Philadelphia Flower Show in 2004 and later self-published Under the Spell of Succulents in 2014.
He is in Arizona this week promoting his new book Aloes & Agaves in Cultivation.
There is no fee to attend his talk or the informal guided walk afterwards (free to BTA members, included with $12.50 admission for non-members); but carry some cash, as the author will sign copies of his books before and after.
“I’m a fan of all succulents/cacti, but have always had a special fondness for aloes, and this book is aimed more at the enthusiast than as a botanical statement, focusing not on habitat but how we grow these mostly African plants here (well, for me that means California, but there are a number than do grow in Arizona).
“I’ve been speaking to cactus and succulent clubs in support of my books all over California and Arizona the past two years, and enjoy the opportunity if affords me to meet fellow enthusiasts and visit/photograph plants and gardens as I go.” J. Moore.
