Ribbon cutting for new mural happening this Friday

Please join us on Friday, June 3 at 5 p.m. for a ribbon cutting at the newly completed “Welcome to Globe” mural painted by Myron Starr on the Diamond M Dental building. The artist will be present to cut the ribbon, as well as the project sponsor, Carol Hinderberger, and the partners who stepped up to rent lifts, Matt Kannegaard, San Carlos Apache Tribe Chairman Terry Rambler and Vice Chairman Tao Eptison.

This is the first of five planned murals being organized by “I Art Globe” for the historic downtown. The mural initiative has been funded by a grant from Peter Beesley, in honor of his late wife, Carol “Ginger” Booth Beesley. I Art Globe is a public outreach project of the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts and is chaired by Thea Wilshire and Regina Ortega.

The mural is located at the corner of Oak and Pine streets, just around the corner from the food truck court. Make this ribbon cutting celebration your first stop before enjoying the First Friday festivities downtown.

Artist Myron Starr will be on hand Friday evening for the ribbon cutting featuring his new mural, the first of five planned ‘I Art Globe’ works of art.
