When it comes to local artists with national appeal, you need look no further than cowboy-turned-sculptor Tim Harmon. Harmon is well known around these parts having grown up on ranches in Gila County/ Tonto Basin, but in the last five years, it has been his work as a bronze sculptor which has won him national attention. His recent works garnered several prestigious awards in 2013 including a Phippen Foundation Award for ‘Mustang’ and a 2013 Artists Choice of the American West Award.
His work is known for the attention to detail and inherent understanding of the cowboy life in each of his pieces.
