From the Canyon, With Thanks

A reader weighs in with thanks for the LDS volunteers

Dear LDS Stake and all other participating members,

Greetings from the Canyon. It is hard to know where to begin thanking you enough for all the immediate support your church provided to our community following the horrific flooding we endured.

Human lives and many things, as well as many things yet to be known, were lost that evening, both tangible and intangible.

With the light of day we began to recognize the beginnings of what had happened, what we had lost, and trying hard to recover what could be found; in reality, we were in shock and beginning to grieve.

Your church, in recognition of our suffering and need, responded with a call to action by your faithful, met with grace and diligence in heart and of hand. The timely mobilization of your flock brought much peace in a time of surreal chaos for those of us left in the way of an unthinkable disaster.

You came prepared, you brought what was needed, but most of all you brought us hope. Globe had been blessed by the Grace of God and the goodness of others (being you), rekindling our faith in humanity and shining a light on the path to “Better Days Ahead.”

You may be called the Latter Day Saints, but now will be most fondly remembered in Globe as the Present Day Heroes - those who were to afraid to answer the call of duty, and to serve with dignity and respect.

I can’t thank you enough for being the great, solid citizen role models that you are, and for giving so freely of your time, your talent, and your treasure to make such a positive difference in the well-being of our community.

May peace/love, good health, and prosperity be with you always,

Most Sincerely Yours,

Sarah Anna Bernstein and Family
