Since opening its doors in 1970, Gila Community College has been an important part of our community, providing local students with affordable educational opportunities, preparing a skilled workforce and strengthening the economic future of Gila County. For generations, the college has helped residents gain the knowledge and training they need to build successful careers close to home.
As a supporter of higher education and the mission of the Pinal Mountain Foundation for Higher Education, I encourage you to vote YES on Proposition 425.
This measure does not raise taxes. Instead, it updates a state spending formula that's more than 45 years old and no longer reflects how community colleges operate today. Prop 425 simply allows Gila Community College to fully utilize the funding it already receives without being subject to unnecessary state spending penalties.
By passing Prop 425, voters will help ensure the college can continue investing in high-quality academic programs, workforce training, student services and partnerships that benefit local employers and our communities. This common-sense update provides the flexibility GCC needs to serve students and taxpayers responsibly.
Our community has relied on Gila Community College for more than five decades. Let's make sure it has the tools to keep educating the next generation and supporting the future of Gila County.
I strongly encourage you to vote YES on Proposition 425.

President, Pinal Mountain Foundation for Higher Education
