Why a printed thank you matters

In a world of quick posts and emojis, there’s something timeless about a message that lives in print — something you can clip, keep, and read again years from now. A Facebook post disappears in a scroll; a thank-you in print becomes part of our community’s living record — preserved in our archives, bound into the pages of history.

Think of it like a handwritten note — the kind you tuck into a drawer and rediscover long after the ink has faded. There’s weight to that. There’s permanence. Gratitude written down has a way of echoing forward.

This has been a year like no other. We’ve been tested by floods, detours, and setbacks that touched nearly every home and business — yet what stood out most was the outpouring of kindness: neighbors with shovels, strangers lending trucks, volunteers showing up without being asked.

We invite you to share your own message of gratitude. Send a short thank-you of 25 to 100 words to a person, group, or moment that mattered this year. Keep it positive and community-minded. Please include your name and town (we can use first name and last initial if you prefer). Photos are welcome if you have permission to share them. Submissions may be lightly edited for clarity and space; please avoid political or promotional content.
