The Arizona Department of Transportation’s U.S. 60 pavement rehabilitation project between Santee Street and the U.S. 70 intersection is coming back.

Starting April 19,  crews will resume milling and paving work, which will mean east and westbound lane restrictions nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday, May 1. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 miles per hour.

The project began last August. In addition to asphalt replacement along the route, the project allows for sidewalk, curb, gutter, guardrail and bridge improvements.

Some locals claimed that the project was causing flat tires.

The project was initially expected to last through early 2026, but is now expected to last through the summer.

The contract award for the project is more than $4.6 million and is being paid for through the State Highway Fund.
