The Arizona Department of Transportation’s U.S. 60 pavement rehabilitation project from Santee Street to the intersection with U.S. 70 is tentatively scheduled to last through early 2026.

The project, which began last week, currently involves sidewalk and curb improvements Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this time, drivers should expect daytime lane restrictions, speed reductions, and sidewalk restrictions. Silver Street at U.S. 60 will also be closed through mid-September.

Beginning in mid-October, the project will include milling and paving operations. At that time, drivers should expect nighttime lane restrictions and speed reductions from 8 p.m. Sunday night through 6 a.m. Friday morning. The project will also call for temporary closures to driveways and street intersections.

The contract award for the project is more than $4.6 million and is being paid for through the State Highway Fund.

According to ADOT assistant director of public information Steve Elliott, ADOT prioritizes pavement improvements statewide based on both need and available funding. This project was added to the ADOT’s construction program in the 2025 fiscal year and was programmed for funding in the current 2026 fiscal year.
