Vonnie's Pizza closes after 19 years

Vonnie’s Pizza, home of the 28-inch Big Dawg, closed its doors in Miami last Wednesday after 19 years in business. During that time, Vonnie and her husband Joe Stapleton have been serving up the biggest pizzas in town to locals and visitors alike. The couple stopped for a photo in their kitchen during the lunch rush the day before closing. “We’ve been blessed,” Joe said, a little teary-eyed. The Stapletons are retiring and moving on to a new job: babysitting their grandchildren.
