Mayor Al Gameros
Due to the ongoing flood recovery efforts, we have made the decision to postpone the State of the City Address at this time that was scheduled for this Thursday, October 9th. Our priority remains focused on supporting our residents and businesses as we continue working through this recovery process. A new date will be announced once the situation has stabilized and more immediate needs have been addressed.
FLOOD RISK this weekend
To all our community residents, please be aware of the potential for significant rainfall later this week as the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla approach. Rain chances are expected to begin increasing on Thursday, with the heaviest rainfall likely to occur Friday through the weekend.
You can stay informed by:
• Downloading the City of Globe app and signing up for notifications. Search “City of Globe” on both iphone and android phones.
Sandbag Locations
For residents in need of sandbags, they will be available at the following locations:
• City Public Works Yard - 150 S. Hagen Rd.
• Downtown by the Teepee near the Globe Public Library - 339 S. Broad St.
• Gila County is also providing sandbags at their public works location at 745 Rose Mofford Way and Dixon Rocks & Materials at 1990 E Ash St. also has sandbags available.
Property Evaluations ongoing
Let us continue our prayers for our community that Mother Nature spares us from a repeat of the devastating rain we experienced last week.
To support the ongoing recovery process for our local businesses and residents, initial property evaluations are currently underway.
As part of this process, official notices will be posted on homes and businesses to indicate the safety status of each structure.
• A green indicates safe to enter and proceed with work.
• A yellow tag indicates some safety concerns are present-proceed with caution.
• A red tag indicates do not enter due to structural hazards.
These initial assessments are a critical step in ensuring the safety of all residents, workers, and visitors as recovery efforts continue. Additionally, the City of Globe will engage an outside technical assessment team, including a structural engineer and a Fire Marshal, for further evaluation of commercial buildings.
Business owners also have the option to hire their own independent engineers if they wish to obtain a second opinion or additional guidance. Our goal is to ensure that any structurally safe buildings can move forward with recovery efforts as quickly and safely as possible.
North Broad to remain CLOSED through Sunday October 12
A decision has been made to keep the north end of Broad Street closed through this Sunday, October 12 to allow for ongoing business cleanup efforts and to maintain the security of private property.
Please note that some businesses within the restricted area are now open, with parking available outside of the closure. We encourage residents and visitors to support them as we continue recovery efforts. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together to restore our community.
Flood Relief through United Fund of Globe Miami, Salvation Army and Local First Arizona
We continue to strongly encourage cash donations to the United Fund of Globe-Miami. This grant relief program has been created in partnership with the Salvation Army, for coordination of the residential relief efforts, and with Local First Arizona, who will be coordinating the Business Flood Relief grant for affected local businesses. The Salvation Army is now actively taking applications for the Residential Flood Relief Grant.
All donated funding will go directly to local businesses and residents in Globe-Miami, through the United Fund of Globe-Miami, ensuring it follows the proper distribution channels.
You can contribute in several ways:

May God continue to bless and protect our community.
