Posted

Miami, Arizona will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this month and on Saturday, March 10th, the Miami Centennial Committee has planned a  gala line up of events inside Bullion Plaza Museum's gymnasium to ring in the next 100 years.  Activities will include a dedication of a new lighting project at the museum, awarding winners of the "birthday card" contest with cash prizes and accolades, photo and memorabilia display covering 100 years, story-sharing from those who remember Miami best, as well as a dinner and dance.

The master of ceremonies will be none other than  former Congressman Ed Pastor  who was born and raised in Miami and served in Congress from 1991 to 2015.

Miami has a wealth of milestones and memories to look back on - from the discovery of copper and the development of the town itself - to the achievements of its people.

Miami, Arizona has a proud legacy in the state of Arizona.

To appreciate this legacy, one need look no further than its alumni who include Ed Pastor,  Roberto Reveles; men who have shaped policy in this state. Or to the Dream Team of 51, which broke state records and went down in the history books as one of the greatest basketball teams ever to take the court.

And,of course, there are the thousands of good memories and significant milestones to those who lived here.

This saturday will be an opportunity to share the memories and celebrate the history of this mining town.

Tickets for the event are $25 and must be purchased by Monday, March 5th through the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce.  NOTE:  The Chamber has extended the deadline for tickets . Call them to get your ticket today.

Local favorites, Copper Bistro and Guayos el Rey will be catering the event.  There will be a no-host bar beginning at 5:30. No tickets will be sold at the door. For more information please call the Chamber at 425-449
