With the upcoming fiscal year of 2026-27 around the corner, the Town of Miami has approved a tentative budget of approximately $135.4 million.
The tentative budget includes just over $3 million in the town's general fund, approximately $3.7 million for sewer and sanitation services, and approximately $1.2 million in the county transportation fund.
Grants make up most of the budget, at a total of around $126 million. That includes $50 million from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; $15 million from the Natural Resources Conservation Service for the Bloody Tanks Wash/Mackey's Camp flood mitigation project; $6.8 million from the Arizona Department of Transportation for U.S. 60; a $6 million brownfield grant; $253,821 in CDBG funds, carried over from fiscal year 2025-26; $2.4 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency; $275,000 for town hall renovation; and $10 million in grants from the Water Infrastructure Authority of Arizona.
The budget projects $1.2 million in transportation sales tax revenue and $276,357 in Highway User Revenue Funds.
Next year's budget proposes $1.2 million for police and patrol. That amount includes $124,875 for vehicle purchases. Town Manager Alexis Rivera said Miami anticipates buying two more police vehicles — a 4x4 truck and a Ford Interceptor. Other proposed police department expenses are $350,000 for the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System; $266,840 for full-time and part-time employees; and $107,035 for police station repair and maintenance.
As far as other town departments go: $1.3 million would go to administration, $137,445 to public works, $76,377 to economic development, $60,642 to the town magistrate, $35,100 to community services, and $24,000 to the mayor and town council.
The budget also includes $668,595 for the Copper Mountain Transit system; $332,388 for the Alicia Garcia Senior Center; $146,500 for the Miami Memorial Library; and $121,108 for the Hostetler Pool.
