The High Desert Middle School Tigers capped off another unforgettable season with a dominant 34-0 victory over Eloy Junior High to claim their third consecutive Central Junior High League Championship. With a balanced offense, a relentless defense, and contributions from players across the roster, the Tigers once again showed why they’ve become the team to beat.
From the opening drive, High Desert set the tone with a strong mix of runs and passes. Though an early penalty stalled their first series, the Tigers quickly regrouped. Lucas Spurgeon provided the spark, breaking tackles on a gutsy fourth-down fake punt to keep the drive alive, and later returning a punt 65 yards for a touchdown that electrified the crowd.
The game’s first score came from the defense, when Jaxon Boykin tackled Eloy’s running back in the end zone, forcing a fumble that Carter DalMolin recovered for a touchdown. Quarterback Emiliano Campos ran in the two-point conversion to put the Tigers ahead 8-0.
Campos later added a 25-yard touchdown scramble of his own, while running back Zane Albo broke loose for two long touchdown runs—one for 55 yards and another for 35—as High Desert continued to roll. DalMolin capped off the scoring with a successful two-point conversion to make it 34-0.
The Tiger defense was just as impressive, forcing turnovers, breaking up passes, recording multiple tackles for loss, and keeping Eloy from ever finding the end zone. By the fourth quarter, every player saw time on the field, a fitting reward for a team that’s worked hard together all season.
“It was an exciting season,” said Head Coach Marcos Franco. “Tonight was a great team win. All three phases contributed, top to bottom. Everybody played a hand all season in helping us bring home another championship.”
With another undefeated season in the books, the High Desert Tigers continue to build a proud tradition of excellence—one championship at a time.
