CVRMC to host free Community Health Fair & 5K on April 18

Posted

Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center invites the community to its annual Community Health Fair & 5K on Saturday, April 18, on the CVRMC campus. The Health Fair 5K kicks off at 7:00 a.m., followed by the Community Health Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Health Fair is free and open to the public. The 5K requires registration and a $25 payment. Children under 12 can participate for free with a paid adult.

A full day of health, fun and family activities

Hospital departments will host hands-on booths covering everyday health habits, pulmonary function testing, fetal development education and more. Attendees can connect with healthcare providers, community organizations and nonprofits — including sponsors Rural Physicians Group, UnitedHealthcare, and HealthTech Management Services — offering resources across all stages of life, from preventive care and mental health to nutrition, early childhood development, senior services and insurance navigation.

Entertainment runs all day long. DJ James Licano provides the soundtrack while Lynn's School of Dance takes the stage at 11:00 a.m. Kids will love the giant rock wall, expanded Kids Zone, bounce houses, obstacle course and face painting. The Globe Police Department hosts a Bike Rodeo featuring helmet giveaways and bike safety education, made possible in part by community partners like State Farm's Cami Lucero and GLJ and Associates. One of the most anticipated attractions is Deb's Dragons, an interactive reptile experience with live "Fear Factor" style shows at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Children can collect stamps on a health passport to earn prizes from a sports equipment ball pit. Raffles and giveaways, including a featured bike package giveaway, will be held throughout the day.

Community art, education and local pride

The event also features a student art gallery showcasing custom seed packets and the official 5K medal, both designed by High Desert Middle School student Carlee Montgomery — a wonderful reflection of the talent nurtured right here in the Globe-Miami community. All attendees receive a seed packet. 5K participants receive a race t-shirt and custom medal.

Educational opportunities abound thanks to supporting sponsors Gila Community College and Resolution Copper, whose commitment to community growth and workforce development aligns perfectly with the spirit of this event. Additional community-minded sponsors, including Edward Jones, Carlota Copper, Christie Innomed, Southwest Gas, One Stop Mail, and United Healthcare, make this wide-ranging, family-friendly day possible.

Plan your visit

A shuttle bus will transport attendees between parking areas and the event space throughout the day. Hospital access will be through the emergency department entrance.
