POLICE CHIEF APPLICANTS

There were eighteen applications received for the position of Police Chief. The applications were reviewed by a committee to check for minimum qualifications and eight individuals were then invited to participate in the first round of interviews that were conducted by phone. Four of those applicants then advanced to the next level of interviews that were conducted on June 28th in front of the city council. Police staff were also able to meet and ask questions to the applicants. The public were then able to meet and greet and ask questions to the applicants moderated by Judge Pearlman. The process is ongoing with the hope to announce the new Police Chief by the end of July. We ask the public to continue to be patient with this very important process.

and marketing plan for the future.

SAFE HOUSE BRUNCH

A fundraising brunch was held at the Dream Manor for the new Safe

The new Safe House will be called the Alderman House in honor of

current Councilman Lerry Alderman for his dedication to this project.

COBRE VALLEY TRANSIT

The City Council again approved to enter into an Intergovernmental

agreement with the Town of Miami as partners with the Cobre Valley

as their portion for the annual operations. This program is funded by

the Town of Miami, Gila County, City of Globe, and ADOT that

provides $500,000.00 in funding annually. The Town of Miami is

responsible for the administration of the program.

The tentative budget was adopted for FY 2018-2019 in the amount of

$22,572,055.00 to comply with the timelines as required by law to

adopt the final budget.

WATER/WASTEWATER RATE INCREASE

The Council approved and gave direction to staff to implement a

schedule for future Water/Wastewater rate increases of up to 2.5% per

year over the next 5 years. These increases are necessary for the city to

maintain their 1.2 ratio to continue to be eligible for future WIFA loans.

There will be public hearings scheduled in the next couple of months

prior to any rate increases to educate the public for the increases.
