The Right Move at the Right Time: Why Biweekly Works for Globe-Miami

Creating a community newspaper with real stories and real people

Posted

I’m proud to share our second issue in this new chapter for Globe Miami Times. Shifting from a monthly to a biweekly newspaper was no small decision—but it was the right move at the right time. And I’m especially proud of the team of writers, photographers, designers, and pros who are helping make this transition possible. It truly takes all of us.

What this new format offers is more than just frequency. It gives us a more immediate connection to the people who live, work, and play in this region—and it allows us to reflect on what’s happening in real time, while it’s still relevant. News doesn’t sit on the shelf here anymore; it lives and breathes alongside the community that creates it.

And in tough times—when the struggle is real and uncertainty is a daily companion—having a community newspaper matters. It becomes a place to celebrate, commiserate, and communicate. A place where stories are shared not just among the people we already know, but across divides we may not even realize exist. A good local paper helps bridge those divides. It’s how we learn what the other half is up to—or even what our neighbors are doing just around the corner.

I often think of a local paper as our region’s Grand Central Station. You stop in, see what’s happening, and choose your direction. Whether it’s youth sports, lake life, city council decisions, school updates, or cultural events—it’s all part of the same living, breathing story of our region. It’s not about chasing clicks; it’s about connecting dots, people, and places.

In this issue, we’re especially excited to debut our new Lake Living page—a regular feature moving forward. The lake isn’t just a scenic backdrop; it’s home (or home away from home) for many. From bass tournaments and water sports to dockside friendships and weekend getaways, there’s a thriving lake culture that deserves its own space in these pages. And if you know Roosevelt Lake, you know it brings people together—from all walks of life.

So, whether you live, work, or play in this region, this paper is for you—and it works best when you see it that way.

We’re building something together.

Thanks for being part of it.

Let’s talk again in two weeks
