On May 7, the Fiesta Sports Foundation — a Scottsdale-based nonprofit focused on youth, sports and education initiatives statewide — hosted a “Lunch on Us” for teachers and staff at Miami Junior-Senior High School, honoring educators and staff who have remained dedicated to their students throughout the local community’s recovery and rebuilding efforts following last year’s flooding.
During the luncheon, the foundation presented the school with a $10,000 donation to support ongoing recovery efforts and help replenish school resources following the extensive flood damage the campus experienced in September.
The school was among those hardest hit by the flooding and only recently reopened after months of rebuilding. Fiesta Sports Foundation said the visit was an opportunity to recognize the resilience shown by educators who continued supporting their students during an especially difficult school year.
“These funds will go directly into our classrooms, helping provide materials that support hands-on, project-based learning experiences for our students,” the school district said in a statement. “A huge thank you to the Fiesta Bowl Sports Foundation and Spirit for their generosity and for taking the time to visit our campus. Your support is making a meaningful difference for our students and staff.”
The Miami visit was part of Fiesta Sports Foundation’s broader statewide Teacher Appreciation Week efforts, which supported educators across Arizona through appreciation events and direct classroom and school funding initiatives.
