From the Desk of the Publisher
This last weekend we saw another outpouring of support for our local community businesses when the Pontiac Club of the Valley drove up to present checks to 4 automotive shops which had been hard hit by the floods. The club, which is the second largest affiliate world wide - raised $8000, and worked with local owners, Blue and Lisa Saiz of Blue’s Automotive to help them identify recipients and make connections for the group here locally.
The City of Globe also laid out the work underway to address the most pressing issues stemming from the storm damage, while awaiting a determination on DEMA funds and an appeal by Governor Hobbs on the FEMA funding which was denied just before Christmas.
And next issue we will bring you updated information on the distribution of flood disaster funds through United Fund and what some home owners are doing to recover. What’s new with the Spring semester underway at Gila Community College and a profile on Judge Jordan Reardon who will be running to keep his seat as Justice of the Peace for the Globe Regional Justice Court. It’s an election year and there will be lots to discuss in the coming months. Hope you come along for the ride.
