The 14th Annual Miami Loco Arts & Music Festival is coming back to Miami and includes a diverse line up of artists and entertainment. The festival transforms Miami’s main street into a huge hub of creativity, community and culture. For the 14th year running, it's all completely free to attend.
Organized by the Miami Arts Commission, a dedicated 501(c)3 nonprofit, Miami Loco has grown into a signature event in the town featuring artists from the Valley and locally. Over three full days — Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19 — attendees will find five stages, dozens of musical acts, visual art exhibitions, pop-up art galleries, poetry slams, comedy shows, performance art, immersive installations, artisan vendors and food trucks filling nearly every corner of downtown Miami. Sullivan Street will be closed to traffic, with music and art programming spilling into local businesses.
The festival kicks off Friday afternoon with vendors setting up in the late afternoon and the first live music performance hitting the main stage around 5:30 p.m. Friday night also features a Performance Art Stir-Fry Mix-Up, Organic Poetry with Cleopache & DJ Scapegoat, a live improv performance by Space Ship Phoenix, and the Crazy Courtyard Comedy Show hosted by Adam Orta.
Saturday opens at 10 a.m. and runs all day, with live music beginning around noon. Don't miss the fifth annual Miami Loco Poetry Slam hosted by Dan Hoen Hull — with a $50 prize on the line — and the Loco Sonic Noise Revival, a seven-act experimental music showcase lighting up Saturday night.
Sunday kicks off with a pancake benefit breakfast at the Miami Senior Center at 9 a.m., followed by a full day of music, storytelling with Liz Warren, Tellers of Tales & Poetry INC with Libby Rooney, and the Quilted Rummage Immersive Art Experience before the festival closes at 6 p.m.
The musical lineup is stacked with over 45 bands and DJs from across Arizona and beyond playing throughout the three-day festival, with performers visiting from Bisbee, Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, Phoenix, New Mexico and even California.
Visual art on display will include “KAIROS: The Revealed Moment to Act Within the Sliding Door of Time,” a group show at Miami Art Works, plus pop-up galleries at 411 Sullivan St. and Gallery Gwendolyn's Secret Garden.
The entire festival is free to experience, so don’t miss this year’s Miami Loco Arts & Music Festival.
