After a long, hard month in Globe-Miami — a month filled with mud, cleanup, and quiet resilience — something new is opening on South Broad Street in downtown Globe, which is sure to bring a smile and a flock of shoppers.
On Thursday, October 30, at exactly 11 a.m., a bright new shop called Lucky Duck Antiques & Vintage will open its doors for the first time. Local owners Christine and David are calling it a “spooky soft opening,” and it’s meant to be just that — a low-key chance for folks to wander in, look around, and maybe snag a handful of Halloween candy while the finishing touches are still being put in place.
The timing couldn’t be better. “After everything our community has been through,” Christine says, “we just wanted to do something that would make people smile again.”
Inside Lucky Duck, visitors will find an eclectic mix of treasures from local dealers — vintage finds, handcrafted goods, and one-of-a-kind pieces that feel both nostalgic and new. It’s the kind of place where browsing feels like discovery, and where you’re likely to leave with both a small find and a lighter heart.
The real celebration comes a week later. On Friday, November 7, at 11 a.m., the Chamber of Commerce will host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the Grand Opening. Christine has promised plenty of pumpkin pie — “Costco pumpkin pie, because it’s delicious!” — along with coffee, apple cider, and a few surprises.
Among those surprises? A flock of 150 “Lucky Ducks” — cheerful little souvenirs meant to bring good fortune to whoever takes one home. “Everyone’s had a rough stretch,” she says, “so why not a little luck?”
From 11 to 3, guests can enjoy a free photo booth by Elevated Entertainment’s Shannon Bolinger — the perfect way to capture a smile or two.
And while Lucky Duck may be new to Broad Street, its purpose is timeless: to create joy, connection, and a sense of community in a town that’s learning to rebuild.
So come in, have a slice of pie, meet the folks behind the counter, and take a look around. Lucky Duck isn’t just a store — it’s a sign that brighter days really are ahead.
