Lee Kornegay student wins this year’s AZ529 Essay Writing Contest

JaceRyan Arrellin, a fifth grade student at Lee Kornegay Intermediate School, is the winner from Gila County in the sixth annual AZ529 Essay Contest.

The State Treasurer Kimberly Yee challenged fifth and sixth graders to dream big and submit an essay describing their dream job and how they will achieve it.

Twenty winners, from among 876 entries, were chosen, representing every Arizona county and district, charter, private, tribal and homeschool students.

JaceRyan shared his dream of becoming a professional football player.

JaceRyan was honored with other winning students during a ceremony at the Arizona State Capitol on Nov. 3, where he was presented with a giant check for $529 towards his own AZ529 savings account.
