Globe Miami-Chamber is important donation/distribution center

Posted

By Sunday, the Chamber of Commerce had become integral to Globe-Miami’s recovery effort. The building was crowded with people—some arriving to pick up food, toiletries, and tools, others volunteering to keep the distribution moving smoothly. Tables and counters were stacked with donations: sacks of flour, bags of sugar, canned goods, cleaning supplies, mop buckets, and tools.

Among the volunteers was Yevette Vargas, who said the community’s generosity had been overwhelming.
“We’ve got flour, we’ve got sugar, we’ve got all your food needs,” Vargas said. “We have toiletries, tools, mop buckets—everything people need to start cleaning up. So come on down.”

Outside, families loaded their vehicles with supplies while volunteers helped carry boxes to car trunks and truck beds. The scene reflected both the scale of the damage and the resilience of a community determined to dig out from the mud and begin again.
