After nearly being canceled, the 42nd Annual Apache Jii draws hundreds

Hundreds gathered at Harbison Field in Globe on October 18 for the 42nd annual Apache Jii celebration. Apache Jii was initially canceled just days before it was scheduled to take place, due to safety concerns following the September and October floods that caused extensive damage to historic downtown Globe, where the festival is traditionally held. But in a last-minute effort, the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce—the event’s organizer—worked with Globe Unified School District to relocate the celebration to Harbison Field. Despite the sudden venue change, vendors, performers, and visitors alike turned out in full force, making this year’s Apache Jii another resounding success.
