Old Dominion Commercial Warehouse-1903
Pickle Barrel Trading Post- 2003 -current
Jules Maurel constructed the Old Dominion Commercial Co. Warehouse in 1903. The huge warehouse was done in the Vernacular Industrial style and was used for receiving railroad freight shipments for the company store. The building’s main facade is made of quarry-faced concrete block, which was produced by Maurel’s construction company.
The warehouse was built facing the railroad so freight material could easily be hauled to and from Globe. The Old Dominion Copper Company closed in 1931 and sat empty for a number of years.
It was later purchased by Rick and Dave, who shared the space with the Blue Mule Gallery. Together, they began the renovation on the old structure, but it wasn’t until the Mosses purchased it in 2002 that the real renovation began and resulted in what you see today.
DETAILS….
