Brownfields Grant funds will be used to perform an asbestos and lead-based paint survey of the basement and attached crawl spaces to identify the type and amount of any asbestos containing materials that are present and require abatement before the basement can be used. The survey also will provide an estimate of associated clean-up costs.
Redeveloping brownfields has the potential to reduce environmental hazards, mitigate public health threats, create new business opportunities, increase tax revenue and restore habitats and blighted areas to productive use. Program funds are limited and available to eligible applicants in the order that they apply and qualify.
