Nurdberger
A relaxed place to grab a burger for lunch or an after work dinner, Nurdberger is located on Hill Street just north of Highway 60. Taylor Harrison has really revamped this location with the creative idea of decorating his shop and nicknaming his foods in a “Nerd” theme. The food is up to par and on pace with a simple old fashioned hamburger shop. Nurdberger is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30am to 8:00pm. Come in on Wednesdays for lunch to catch Stephen Palmer playing original music as well as some favorite covers. Music goes from Noon until 1pm.
Low Expectations
For the past 2 years this band has been making a name for themselves in the Globe-Miami area. They play rock, country and funk but it all has a little bit of a hard rock edge. The front man, Justin Justice, has really groomed himself into the art of entertaining a crowd. While both Josh Cummings and Daniel Philpot continue to impress with their guitar skills. Low Expectations has expanded their horizons by playing shows in Safford, Showlow and even Parker, Arizona. They will be playing at the Shamrock Bar and Dance Hall every other Saturday through the 1st of the year as well as a whole mess of shows in a variety of locations from Jammerz Bar to the Apache Gold Casino.
Aaron Zufelt
There is no shortage of projects going on involving Aaron Zufelt. From acoustic open mics to full metal jams with Sinthetic, he does it all. Most of us got to know Aaron as he played with Eli Miller and Matt Medrano in a band that had a few names, most notably Honor Bed and now Howling Booty and the Blue Mountain Band. He continuous to play in Howlin Booty but can mostly be seen performing as Mighty Bison, which is basically Aaron Zufelt and friends. He shares this project with long time friend and mentor Shon Bywater, who is also the founding member of the metal band Sinthetic, in which both Shon and Aaron also play. You can catch Aaron playing all around town. At the start of the month he hosts and Open Mic on the first Thursday at Two Lanes and you can usually catch Howlin Booty on the first Saturday at the Drift Inn Saloon. Most weekends he is out playing with Mighty Bison or Sinthetic at Jammerz Bar and even sometimes down in the Phoenix Valley at one of the big city metal venues.
